Are you at Risk of Fracture due to Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis makes your bones frail and easily broken; they become so weak that falling or even minor trauma from a coughing fit can lead to a fracture. Fractures related to this ailment occur mostly in the spine, wrist, or hip area. Osteoporosis affects men and women of all races, however Caucasian and Asian women are most susceptible, and especially those women who have passed menopause. Medications, a healthy diet and weight-bearing exercise can help prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones. If left untreated, this condition can lead to further complications.
Osteoporosis can be diagnosed and controlled by noting risk factors and undergoing tests such as measuring Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
Tests and consultations are strongly recommended for:
·         Women aged 65 years and over or Men 70 years and older

Women under 65 with at least one of the following risk factors
·         Menstrual cycle ended before the age of 45
·         Estrogen deficiency before menopause (period of 1 year prior)
·         Women post menopause with a BMI of less than 19 kg / m²

Women under 65 and Men under 70 years of age with at least one of the following risk factors:
·         Osteopenia or spinal deformities detected by X-ray images.
